About Hong Kong

A city practically exploding with drama, Hong Kong’s towering skyline sits famously close to luscious green peaks, and the sheer scale and pace of daily life here will take your travelling experience to dizzy new heights. Particularly if you visit Ozone at The Ritz Carlton, which is not only the highest bar in the city, but the entire world, sitting on the 118th floor of the ICC Tower with an insane view of the city’s most famous landmarks.
To understand Hong Kong, you do need a little history - its 99-year lease to the UK ended in 1997, and the resulting intersection and juxtaposition of British and Chinese cultures means the city thrives as a hub for expats. But Hong Kong remains strong to its Cantonese roots, which you’ll find in its world-famous food and lively markets - the grand dame is the staggering Temple Street Night Market, open daily from 4pm to midnight.
Naturally, Chinese New Year is the most important festival on the calendar, with the entire city shutting down for three days and culminating in a spectacular fireworks display on Victoria Harbour. If you want midler temperatures, visit October to December - come the summer, Hong Kong’s tropical climate is in full force, and between June and August you can expect thunderstorms every day - but that only adds to the drama of this electrifying city.
