The new IndiGo service – the North’s only direct, year-round route to India – is likely to support £32.9m increase in exports from the region to the world’s fastest-growing economy a year.
There are already around 234,000 people who travel from Manchester Airport’s catchment area to Mumbai every year, roughly 70,000 of whom flew from Manchester, but indirectly.

The service will be IndiGo’s first Europe and will be shortly followed by a connection to Amsterdam. It adds to Manchester Airport’s route network of more than 200 destinations and cements its status not only as the UK’s global gateway in the North but as one of Europe’s most well-connected airports.

The Moroccan capital Rabat will become the fifth city in the country with a direct flight from Manchester Airport later this month, when Ryanair launches a new twice-weekly service.
Flights from Manchester to Rabat-Salé Airport will run on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting on Sunday 30th March, from as little as £14.99 per person one-way.*
